Samarkand’s Registan, Bukhara’s old town and Tashkent’s bazaars make Uzbekistan a rewarding trip from Pakistan, and as the homeland of Babur, its history feels familiar. Most trips start with one search: the Uzbekistan e-Visa for Pakistani passport holders. Here is the honest answer first.

On 5 October 2026, Pakistan was not in the citizenship list on Uzbekistan’s official e-Visa portal, e-visa.gov.uz, so Pakistanis could not apply there. The route was a visa from an Uzbek embassy or consulate, usually with an invitation from a tour company in Uzbekistan.

Voyfaro does not issue, apply for or guarantee visas. We point you to official sources and explain them in plain English. Last checked: 5 October 2026.

Uzbekistan visa for Pakistani passport holders: quick answer

As checked on 5 October 2026:

  • Do Pakistanis need a visa? Yes. Pakistan is not on the visa-free list of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
  • Can you use the e-Visa? Not on the check date. The portal’s citizenship menu listed 136 countries, and Pakistan was not one of them. Pakistan is also missing from the MFA’s Appendix 1, the list of countries that can use the e-Visa or a simplified tourist visa.
  • Where to apply instead: the Consular Section of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad, or another Uzbek mission abroad.
  • What a tourist needs: a copy of an invitation letter from a tourist company in Uzbekistan, a signed visa form from visa.mfa.uz, copies of your passport pages, your passport and a photo.
  • Processing: the embassy says up to 10 working days for most nationalities. Its tourist visa page says you collect the visa in person.
  • Fee: the embassy’s general fee list shows $60 for a single-entry visa of up to 30 days. Confirm the exact amount and how to pay with the Consular Section first. See the fee table below.
  • Transit: Pakistan is not on the MFA’s 5-day visa-free transit list.

Do Pakistanis need a visa for Uzbekistan?

Yes. The MFA says foreigners may enter Uzbekistan only with a visa, unless their country has a visa-free arrangement. Its visa page, last updated on 1 June 2026, does not include Pakistan in the visa-free list.

Why many websites say “$20, 30 days, 3 days”

Those figures come from the e-Visa rules for eligible countries. The portal’s terms say:

  • Fee: $20 single entry, $35 double entry, $50 multiple entry, non-refundable, plus a bank fee when you pay
  • Stay: up to 30 days, with the e-Visa valid for entry within 90 days of issue
  • Timing: apply at least 3 working days before arrival; applications are considered within 2 working days

These rules only help if your nationality is in the portal’s list. On our check date, Pakistan was not. Lists can change, so check the portal yourself (steps below).

Tourist visa vs other visas

This guide covers tourist visas. The MFA says visas at missions abroad are issued on the basis of an MFA confirmation, after an inviting party in Uzbekistan applies to the MFA. Business, study, work and medical visas have their own documents, so ask the embassy which category fits.

Pakistanis living in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar or the UK

Your passport decides the rules, not where you live. UAE, Qatari and British citizens are on the MFA’s visa-free list, but an Emirates ID, iqama or UK residence permit does not change your nationality. The portal tells you to choose the citizenship of the passport you will travel on.

The MFA says visas are issued at Uzbek diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad. In the UAE, there is a Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Dubai. Living in the Gulf or the UK? Ask your tour company and the mission covering your city whether you can apply and collect your visa there. As general guidance, keep your residence visa valid until after you return.

Transit through Tashkent

The MFA’s 5-day visa-free transit (Appendix 2, for travellers with an Uzbekistan Airways ticket to a third country) does not include Pakistan. The embassy says people travelling through Uzbekistan need a transit visa, plus the visa and ticket for their final destination. Only changing planes airside? The pages we checked do not cover that, so confirm with your airline and the embassy.

How to check the e-Visa portal yourself

Before you pay anyone for an invitation, take two minutes to check:

  1. Type e-visa.gov.uz yourself. The portal’s terms say the service is provided by the MFA’s Consular Department. Ignore ads and look-alike domains.
  2. Click “Application for e-visa”.
  3. Open the Citizenship menu and look for Pakistan.
  4. If Pakistan is listed, read the portal’s “Need to know” page and follow its steps. It asks for an ICAO-standard photo of 35 x 45 mm and a copy of your passport’s main data page. If Pakistan is not listed, use the embassy route below.

Payment is the last step on the official portal. Never pay a site that sells a “Pakistani e-Visa” before you have seen Pakistan in the official list.

How to apply for an Uzbekistan tourist visa from Pakistan

Based on the embassy’s visa pages and the MFA’s visa page:

  1. Choose a tour company in Uzbekistan. The embassy says tour operators and travel agencies apply to the MFA on your behalf. The MFA says it considers these written applications within 4 working days.
  2. Fill in the visa form at visa.mfa.uz. The embassy links to evisa.mfa.uz, which now redirects there. The embassy asks for personal details in English letters only. Print and sign the form.
  3. Prepare your documents (checklist below).
  4. Submit at the Consular Section in Islamabad. The embassy lists its address as House 40, Khayaban-e-Iqbal Road, Sector F-8/3. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 to 12:00, and its business visa page lists phone enquiries daily from 15:00 to 16:00. Check these before you go.
  5. Attend an interview if asked. The embassy says one may be required, and that it can refuse without giving a reason.
  6. Pay and collect. The tourist visa page says fees are paid on collection and that you collect the visa yourself. The business visa page instead asks for a bank transfer and says to confirm the exact fee with the Consular Section before paying. Ask which applies to you. Check the dates, number of entries and your name on the visa before you leave the counter.

Visa centres and agents

In December 2024, the embassy said it welcomes all visa centres and travel companies, but gives none of them preference or exclusive powers. As general guidance, use a company that can show it operates officially with Uzbek partners, ask for a written quote, and never pay anyone who “guarantees” a visa.

Documents checklist for Pakistani applicants

  • Passport valid at least 3 months longer than the visa (embassy and MFA), with at least one blank page (embassy)
  • Copy of the invitation letter from a tourist company in Uzbekistan (embassy)
  • Visa application form from visa.mfa.uz, completed and signed
  • Photos: the embassy’s tourist list asks for one passport-size photo on the form. The MFA’s general list asks for two forms and two colour 35 x 45 mm photos, so take two of each.
  • Copies of your passport pages
  • Gulf or UK residence visa copy, if you apply outside Pakistan (general guidance)
  • Hotel bookings and a return ticket. Not on the embassy’s tourist list, but worth carrying in case your airline or border officers ask. Choose refundable options until your visa is issued.
  • Travel insurance: not listed on the pages we checked, but recommended

Uzbekistan visa fee and processing time for Pakistanis

Item What the official pages say
Single-entry visa: up to 7, 15 or 30 days $40, $50 or $60 (Islamabad embassy, general fee list)
Tourist visa, 30 days $40, plus processing costs that depend on the mission (MFA fee list)
Extra entries Fee rises by $10 for each additional entry (MFA)
Transit visa, up to 72 hours $40 (embassy and MFA)
When you pay On collection (embassy tourist visa page); bank transfer before issue (embassy business visa page)
Processing Up to 10 working days for most nationalities (embassy); invitations within 4 working days at the MFA
e-Visa ($20 single entry) Only for listed nationalities; Pakistan not listed on 5 October 2026

The embassy and MFA lists differ, and the embassy’s fee pages are undated. Its page titled for consular fees for Pakistani citizens had no content on 5 October 2026. Ask the Consular Section for the total in writing before you pay. As general guidance, start three to four weeks before travel.

On arrival in Uzbekistan

Registration of stay

The embassy says all tourist visa holders must be registered at their hotels. Its business visa page adds that foreigners staying more than 3 days must be registered within 72 hours of arrival, and that hotels do this automatically. A July 2025 notice on the government portal says hotel staff register guests through the E-mehmon system. If you stay in a private home, the owner must make sure you are registered on time, and the E-mehmon website (emehmon.uz) has an online option for individuals registering guests in their own homes for up to 30 days. As general guidance, keep any registration confirmation until you leave.

Cash and customs

Check the current cash and declaration rules on the Customs Committee’s official website, customs.uz, before you fly. We do not list limits here because they can change.

Also save the details of the Pakistan Embassy in Tashkent (pakembassytashkent.org.pk), which has a “Register with Embassy” section.

Getting there from Pakistan and the Gulf

Our sample plan below starts and ends in Tashkent. Depending on season and airline, you may find direct flights from some Pakistani cities, or one-stop routes via Gulf or regional hubs. From Dubai, Sharjah or Jeddah, compare direct and one-stop options, including journey time and baggage. Compare flights to Tashkent.

Planning a Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara trip

A simple 7 to 8 day plan:

  • Days 1 and 2, Tashkent: the old city, Chorsu Bazaar and the metro stations
  • Days 3 to 5, Samarkand: the Registan, Shah-i-Zinda and Gur-e-Amir, Amir Timur’s tomb
  • Days 6 and 7, Bukhara: the old town, Poi Kalyan and the Ark fortress
  • Day 8: back to Tashkent by train or a domestic flight

Uzbekistan Railways runs Afrosiyob high-speed trains from Tashkent to Samarkand and on to Bukhara. Check current timetables on railway.uz, and as general guidance, book early in spring and autumn. The tourism portal uzbekistan.travel has city guides. Compare hotels in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, ideally with free cancellation.

Data and insurance

A travel eSIM gives you data for maps, ride apps and translation as soon as you land. See Uzbekistan eSIM options, or read eSIM vs roaming vs local SIM.

For insurance, check the medical limit, the trip dates and any pre-existing condition rules. Compare travel insurance for Uzbekistan.

Combine with Kyrgyzstan?

Many travellers pair Tashkent with Bishkek. An Uzbek visa does not cover Kyrgyzstan, so check Kyrgyzstan’s official rules separately; see our Kyrgyzstan e-Visa guide for Pakistanis. If you leave Uzbekistan and come back, ask for a visa with enough entries. Comparing other trips? See our guides for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey; the rules for Pakistani passports differ for each.

Common mistakes that cause refusals or delays

  • Paying a website that sells a “Pakistani e-Visa” when the official portal does not list Pakistan
  • Choosing your country of residence instead of your passport nationality
  • A name or passport number that does not match your passport (the portal says a mismatched visa is invalid)
  • A passport that expires less than 3 months after the visa ends
  • Blurry or non-standard photos
  • A single-entry visa for a trip that leaves and re-enters Uzbekistan
  • Assuming visa-free transit through Tashkent
  • Booking non-refundable flights before the visa is issued

FAQ

Can Pakistanis get an Uzbekistan visa on arrival?

Not as a standard option. The MFA describes airport visas only for citizens of countries without an Uzbek embassy or consulate, and for stateless people, and only when an inviting party in Uzbekistan arranges MFA confirmation in advance. Pakistan has an Uzbek embassy in Islamabad, so get your visa before you fly.

How much is the Uzbekistan e-Visa fee for Pakistani passport holders?

The portal lists $20 for a single-entry e-Visa, but only for listed nationalities, and Pakistan was not listed on 5 October 2026. For the embassy visa, the Islamabad embassy’s general fee list shows $60 for a single-entry visa of up to 30 days. Confirm the exact amount and payment method with the Consular Section before you pay.

Can I apply from Dubai or Riyadh on my Pakistani passport?

Not for the e-Visa, as of our check date, because eligibility depends on your passport. For an embassy visa, ask your tour company and the Uzbek mission covering your city, such as the Consulate General in Dubai, whether you can apply and collect it there.

How long can I stay, and can I extend?

The MFA says tourist visas are issued for up to one month; your visa shows the exact dates. For getting or extending a visa inside Uzbekistan, the MFA points to its Bureau of Diplomatic Missions Services. Ask before your visa expires.

Is travel insurance mandatory for Uzbekistan?

It was not on the tourist visa document lists we checked. Medical cover for the whole trip is still wise.

Does Voyfaro apply for the visa for me?

No. We point you to official sources and help you compare flights, hotels, eSIM and insurance. You apply through the embassy or your tour company, and you pay partners directly.
