Tbilisi’s old town, the mountains around Kazbegi and the Batumi seafront make Georgia a popular short break, especially for Pakistanis living in the Gulf. This guide explains the Georgia visa for Pakistani passport holders in plain English. It covers who can enter without a Georgian visa and who needs an embassy visa. It also explains the 2025 rule change for UAE, Saudi and Qatar residents.
Voyfaro does not issue visas or guarantee entry. Georgian border officials make the final decision. Rules change, so confirm everything on the official pages in our Sources list.
Georgia visa for Pakistani passport holders: the quick answer
- Pakistani passport only? You need a visa. Georgia’s consular website says Pakistani citizens must get an ordinary visa before travel, through a Georgian embassy or consular office.
- A valid UK, US, Canadian, EU or other listed visa or residence permit can replace it. You can then stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
- Gulf residents face a 1-year rule. Since 16 May 2025, a Gulf visa or residence permit only counts for Pakistanis if it is valid for at least 1 year on the day they enter Georgia. A Gulf visa must also be multiple-entry. This covers the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman.
- The regular e-Visa was not open to Pakistani passports when we checked the official portal in October 2026. Only the C5 “Tourism up to 1 year” e-Visa was offered.
- Living in Pakistan? Georgia’s consular page for Pakistan names the Embassy of Georgia in Tehran for visa applications. That embassy is accredited to Pakistan.
Which route fits you?
| Your situation | Likely route | Key check |
|---|---|---|
| Living in Pakistan, no other visa | Ordinary visa via the Embassy of Georgia in Tehran | Contact the embassy early |
| Gulf residence valid 1 year or more on entry | Visa-free, up to 90 days in 180 | At least 1 year left on the day you cross the border |
| Gulf residence valid less than 1 year | Ordinary visa from the Georgian embassy where you live | Abu Dhabi requires an in-person appointment |
| Valid UK, US, Canadian, EU or other listed visa or residence permit | Visa-free, up to 90 days in 180 | Valid on the day you enter |
| Want to apply online | C5 “Tourism up to 1 year” e-Visa | Portal showed 300 USD (Oct 2026); read its conditions first |
Route 1: visa-free entry with a valid visa or residence permit
Georgia lets some foreigners enter without a Georgian visa if they hold a visa or residence permit from a listed country. The legal basis is Government of Georgia Ordinance No. 256 of 5 June 2015.
Which visas and residence permits count
Georgia’s consular website calls this list “Annex 1”. It includes:
- United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan
- United Kingdom, plus some overseas territories and the Crown Dependencies
- All 27 EU member states, named one by one, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland
- Republic of Korea and Israel
The visa or residence permit must be valid at the moment you cross the Georgian border.
The 2025 change for Gulf visa and residence holders
Ordinance No. 122 of 17 April 2025 amended Ordinance No. 256, with effect from 16 May 2025. It names 17 nationalities, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Morocco.
For these nationals, a visa or residence permit from the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait or Oman only counts if:
- A visa is multiple-entry (a residence permit can also qualify), and
- The visa or residence permit is valid for at least 1 year on the day you cross the Georgian border.
Example: your Emirates ID expires 8 months after your planned arrival. Under this wording it does not qualify, so you would need a Georgian visa.
How long you can stay
Georgia’s consular checker says up to 90 days in any 180-day period. It also links to an official days calculator for working out how many legal days you have left.
What border police may ask to see
If the border police ask, you must be able to show:
- Your passport
- Proof of the purpose of your trip
- Proof of accommodation
- Travel and health insurance
- Proof of sufficient funds
GCC residents (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar): what to check before booking
Dates matter most. Check these before you pay for flights:
- Count from your arrival date. Your Emirates ID, iqama or QID needs at least 1 year left on the day you land, not the day you book.
- Check your passport. The Embassy of Georgia in the UAE says your residence must be valid on the days you enter and leave Georgia. It also says your passport needs at least 90 days’ validity.
- Carry proof of residence. As general guidance, take your passport and your residence card, not just a photo of it.
- Renewal in progress? As general guidance, wait for the new permit. Only a valid document counts.
- Prepare the border documents: proof of accommodation, proof of your travel purpose, insurance and proof of funds. As general guidance, a return ticket helps show your plans.
If your residence has less than 1 year left
The Embassy of Georgia in the UAE says to apply for a C1 tourist visa, which it lists with a duration of 90 days. Register on geoconsul.gov.ge, book an appointment and attend the consular section in Abu Dhabi. Its document list:
- Passport and Emirates ID
- Travel or health insurance covering accidents above 30,000 GEL and the whole visit
- Proof of accommodation and a return flight ticket
- Bank statements for the last 3 months
- Fee receipt (service tariff listed as 20 USD / 75 AED)
- The application form, printed, signed on the last page, then scanned and uploaded
Copies must be in English and uploaded as PDF scans. Each family member needs a separate application and payment. Your UAE residence must stay valid more than 3 months beyond the Georgian visa dates you request.
Saudi residents can contact the Embassy of Georgia in Riyadh, and Qatar residents the embassy in Doha. Neither website had a detailed visa page when we checked, so ask them before booking.
Georgia is not the only trip where your Gulf residence matters. Our guides to the Oman GCC Resident eVisa and the Kyrgyzstan e-Visa for Pakistanis explain routes that depend on holding a Gulf resident card.
Pakistani UK residents and holders of UK or US visas
The UK and the US are on Annex 1. A Pakistani citizen with a valid UK or US visa or residence permit can enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. The 1-year rule applies only to Gulf documents.
General guidance:
- Keep a margin: your visa or permit must be valid on your entry date, even if flights are delayed.
- Georgian rules say your visa or permit must be shown by a travel or other appropriate document. If your UK status is digital only (a UK eVisa), ask the Georgian consular service how to prove it before you fly.
- Unsure? Use the “Entering Georgia” checker on geoconsul.gov.ge.
Route 2: how to get a Georgia visit visa from Pakistan
Georgia’s consular page for Pakistan says short-term visa applications may be submitted to the Embassy of Georgia in Tehran, Iran. The embassy’s website says it is accredited to Pakistan.
The page lists these main documents:
- Completed visa application form
- Passport or travel document
- Passport-size photo to ICAO standards
- Consular fee payment receipt
- Invitation letter, only if requested
- Written consent of a legal representative for applicants under 18
- Proof of paying any fine, if you were fined for overstaying in Georgia before
The embassy may ask for more documents or an interview. Confirm the process, fee and timing with it before you book.
The same page says a single-entry ordinary visa is issued for up to 30 days. Multiple-entry visas, valid for up to 5 years, are for people who visited Georgia at least once in the previous year.
Living in a third country? You can apply at the Georgian mission there if your residence permit or multiple-entry visa is valid 3 months longer than the Georgian visa you request.
Georgia e-Visa for Pakistani passport holders: what the portal shows
The official portal is evisa.gov.ge. Pakistan appears in its citizenship list, but that alone proves nothing.
When we checked the portal’s eligibility data for Pakistan in October 2026:
- The regular e-Visa (the short-stay visa most tourists use) was not available.
- A “Tourism up to 1 year” (C5) option was available. The portal lists a 300 USD fee.
- The portal says a decision takes up to 5 working days, which may extend to 10 if more checks are needed.
Georgia’s Parliament passed the law creating the C5 category on 15 April 2026. It allows stays of up to 1 year, mainly for tourism. It also covers work done only for a company based outside Georgia. It is not a cheap holiday visa, so read its conditions first.
The e-Visa FAQ says fees are not refunded if a visa is refused. It also says your passport must stay valid at least 3 months after the visa ends. For nationalities eligible for the regular e-Visa, the FAQ lists 20 USD plus a 2% service fee. Run the eligibility check yourself before paying, as this can change.
Common mistakes and why some travellers are refused entry
General guidance, based on the official requirements above:
- Gulf residence with less than 1 year left, or a single-entry Gulf visa
- A visa or residence permit that has expired or is “under renewal”
- No hotel booking, or dates that do not match your flights
- No travel or health insurance
- Too little money, or no bank card or statement
- No return ticket
- Paying a look-alike site for an e-Visa you are not eligible for
Keep printed copies of your hotel booking, return ticket and insurance in your hand luggage.
Avoid look-alike visa websites
Official Georgian visa pages end in .gov.ge: evisa.gov.ge, geoconsul.gov.ge and embassy sites on mfa.gov.ge. Other “Georgia e-visa” sites are not government sites and may charge extra. Never send passport scans to unknown WhatsApp numbers.
