eSIM

Mobile data for your trip, sorted before you fly

An eSIM is a digital SIM. You install a travel data plan on your phone with a QR code or an app, without a physical card. It can be a simple way to have maps, messages and ride apps working as soon as you land. We help you choose a plan, and you buy it from a trusted partner.

  1. Traveller:Going to Turkey and Greece for 10 days. I have an iPhone 13.
  2. Voyfaro:Most iPhone 13 models support eSIM if the phone is unlocked. A regional plan can cover both countries.
  3. Traveller:How much data do I need?
  4. Voyfaro:For maps, messages and some social media, a mid-size plan is usually enough. Install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly.

What we help with

The right plan for your phone and your trip

  • Checking your phone

Whether your phone supports eSIM and whether it is carrier-unlocked.

  • Choosing a plan size

How much data you are likely to use, based on your trip length and habits.

  • Single country or regional

A plan for one country, or one that covers several countries on the same trip.

  • Data only or with a number

Most travel eSIMs are data only. We explain what that means for calls and texts.

  • Setup timing

When to install and when to switch it on, so your plan's validity is not used up too early.

  • Comparing with other choices

Sometimes roaming or a local SIM is the better fit. We will say so. Read our guide: eSIM vs roaming vs local SIM.

Good to know

Tips before you buy

  • Check eSIM support first

On most phones it is in Settings under Mobile Data, Cellular or SIM manager. If you see an option to add an eSIM, your phone likely supports it.

  • Make sure your phone is unlocked

A phone locked to one network may not accept another eSIM. Your current network can confirm this.

  • Install on Wi-Fi

You usually need an internet connection to install an eSIM. Doing it at home, before you leave, is easiest.

  • Do not delete the eSIM by mistake

Many eSIMs can only be installed once. Keep the QR code or install details safe until your trip ends.

  • Keep your home SIM for OTPs

If you need bank or app codes by SMS, keep your home line active. Turn off data roaming on it to avoid charges.

  • Check the validity rule

Some plans start when installed, others when you first connect abroad. The partner's plan page will say which.

  • Hotspot and calls

Not all plans allow hotspot use, and data-only plans do not include a normal phone number. Use internet calling apps where allowed.

  • Visiting Pakistan with a phone bought abroad?

Phones used on Pakistani networks may need PTA registration. Check the official PTA DIRBS site for current rules.

FAQ

eSIM FAQ

Have another question? Ask us in chat or by email.

Does every phone support eSIM?

No. Many recent phones do, but not all. Some models sold in certain regions, or locked to a network, do not. Check your phone settings or ask us.

Will I get a local phone number?

Most travel eSIMs are data only and do not come with a phone number for normal calls or SMS. You can still use internet calling and messaging apps where they are allowed.

Can I keep my normal SIM active at the same time?

On many dual-SIM phones, yes. You can keep your home SIM for calls and SMS codes, and use the eSIM for data. Turn off data roaming on your home SIM to avoid extra charges.

What if my eSIM does not work when I land?

First check that the eSIM line is on, data roaming is enabled for that eSIM line, and it is set as your mobile data line. If it still does not work, contact the partner you bought it from. Their support details are in your purchase email.
